Member Spotlight: 2020 Annual Meeting Travel Scholarships Winner - Samya Dutta

2020    Over several newsletter editions, MASCC will feature one of the winners of the 2020 Annual Meeting Travel Scholarships.  MASCC’s annual travel scholarships are part of our organization’s commitment to increasing the attendance of oncology healthcare professionals from low-income countries at our annual meetings. MASCC provides travel scholarships for this purpose in cases where attendance would not be possible without financial assistance. For more information on recent award recipients, click here.

This month we highlight MASCC member Samya Dutta, MBBS, of Burdwan Medical College, Bardhaman, India. Dutta’s Annual Meeting presentation is titled “Chewable Vitamin C  In The Management Of Radiation-Induced Xerostomia: Is It The End Of The Dark Tunnel?

Because the 2020 Annual Meeting was postponed this year (due to the pandemic), Dutta will present at the 2021 Annual Meeting

Dutta graduated in 2015 from Burdwan Medical College in Bardhaman, India with a MBBS.  He is currently in residence at Burdwan Medical College in Pharmacology. In 2018, he was introduced to MASCC by his mentor Dr. Sandip Mukhopadhyay, one of the first medical pharmacologists from India to receive the Young Investigator Award (2017). Dutta’s focus is on radiation-induced adverse effects and he aspires to explore further research opportunities in the field of supportive care in cancer.
