2021    MASCC Staff Updates: We’re pleased to introduce our newest team members Ruxandra Nedu - MASCC Associate Director, Jocelyn White - Events and Marketing Manager and Sylvia Black our Communications Specialist. 

Ruxandra Nedu

Ruxandra ([email protected]) has over 17 years’ experience working in various healthcare sectors and progressive leadership roles, delivering expertise related to clinical risk management, quality improvement, patient safety and accreditation. Her experience includes working in Toronto at two large academic teaching hospitals and most recently at Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada.

She believes in data and science, enjoys developing and maintaining partnerships with various stakeholders, and is very passionate about quality, risk and safety.

Jocelyn White

Jocelyn ([email protected]) is a Certified Meeting Planner and Digital Event Strategist. Prior to joining MASCC, she was an event planner managing international conferences, incentive travel programs, and virtual events. Jocelyn thrives on seeing the magic come together at a live event and discovering ways to provide content and value to our members. Jocelyn will manage the MASCC/ISOO Annual Meeting and support the MASCC study groups to prepare webinars to share their research.

Sylvia Black

Sylvia ([email protected]) is a registered dietitian and communications specialist with experience working on a variety of communications projects in the non-profit sector. Prior to joining MASCC, she worked for the Ontario Public Health Association as a dietitian and communications lead for its nutrition centre, Nutrition Connections. Sylvia is passionate about the importance of good communication to promote effective healthcare and is excited to be taking over as the new editor of Society News, as well as taking responsibility for MASCC’s communications strategy and social media.



Our Executive Director, Melissa Chin, will be going on maternity leave starting at the end of June.We’d like to wish Melissa all the best in her new journey as a first-time mom, and look forward to welcoming her back to the team in due course. Ruxandra Nedu will be filling in during Melissa’s absence.



We’re also pleased to announce that Fred Ashbury has been renewed as Editor-in-Chief of Supportive Care in Cancer

First appointed in 2009, Fred has successfully overseen Supportive Care in Cancer for more than a decade, and we look forward to watching the journal continue to grow under his leadership.
