Introducing Angela Perez, MASCC’s New Communications Manager

2020    We are pleased to introduce MASCC’s new Communications Manager, who succeeds Toni Clark as Website and Society News Editor. Angela joined MASCC on January 2nd and will assume full responsibility for the Society News starting with the March issue. In addition to the News and website editing, Angela will assist with developing and executing communication plans for MASCC, which will include content on our website and social media outlets, and numerous other writing and editing projects.

Angela brings to MASCC over 10 years of experience in communications, publishing, and government relations in a variety of industries including cybersecurity, non-profit electric utilities, energy, and hospitals. She holds a master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, with a concentration in Russian, Slavic, and East European studies.

I live to write, edit, and scuba dive, in that order,” says Angela, an avid diver who recently completed PADI Advanced Open Water certification while in the Florida Keys. She plans to attain Rescue Diver certification in 2020. Angela volunteers at a regional sea turtle hospital and also teaches English language to local refugee and immigrant communities. Having lived in both Oregon and Washington, DC, Angela returned to her home state of North Carolina, where she currently resides with her dog, Tater. Tater frequently travels with Angela on her dive trips but does not share her affinity for the ocean.
