Member Spotlight: 2020 Annual Meeting Travel Scholarships Winner - Vesile Yildiz Kabak

2021    Over several newsletter editions, MASCC will feature one of the winners of the 2020 Annual Meeting Travel Scholarships.  MASCC’s annual travel scholarships are part of our organization’s commitment to increasing the attendance of oncology healthcare professionals from low-income countries at our annual meetings. MASCC provides travel scholarships for this purpose in cases where attendance would not be possible without financial assistance. For more information on recent award recipients, click here.

This month, we feature Travel Scholarship winner Vesile Yildiz Kabak, PT, PhD, of Hacettepe University, Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in Ankara, Turkey.  Her winning presentation is titled “Effect of Exercise Program on Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Related Morbidities.” 

Because the 2020 Annual Meeting was postponed this year (due to the pandemic), Dutta will present at the 2021 Annual Meeting. 

Kabak received her MS from Dokuz Eylül University, School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.  She completed her doctorate at Hacettepe University Health Sciences Faculty, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Program. She specializes in oncology and hematology with a wide range of clinical experience including musculoskeletal, respiratory, and neurologic complications. She continues her academic studies in exercise and rehabilitation for pediatric and adult cancer patients during inpatient/outpatient periods. She is also researching exercise in pediatric and adult patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
