MASCC Society News February 2019

In the February 2019 issue, we're pleased to highlight some features of this year's Annual Meeting: its four themes, each one reflected in several sessions led by world experts, and a New Members Breakfast. This issue also includes news of three MASCC award programs: Outstanding Study Group and Study Group Leader Awards, MASCC-Designated Center of Excellence in Supportive Care in Cancer, and the annual Distinguished Service Award. Note the deadline of April 1 for DSA nominations! MASCC President Raj Lalla, DDS, PhD, discusses MASCC's efforts to recognize outstanding work within and outside the MASCC community. As usual, we include upcoming conference reminders. We extend a warm welcome to all the new members who joined us in December. And we encourage every member to be a voice for MASCC!

 
World Cancer Day — February 4th

World Cancer Day will be celebrated on February 4th, a time to promote cancer education, prevention, treatment, and support for patients and caregivers.

 
New Members Networking Breakfast at Annual Meeting

The 2019 MASCC/ISOO Annual Meeting will feature a New Members Networking Breakfast, an informal opportunity to meet supportive care experts and build linkages across disciplines and generations.

 
2019 MASCC/ISOO Meeting: Digital Health, Sexual Health, Treatment Toxicities, and Survivorship

At this year’s MASCC/ISOO Annual Meeting, four themes of critical importance in supportive care will be featured in various sessions: digital health applications, sexual health, new toxicities arising from new treatments, and issues faced by cancer survivors.

 
MASCC DSA Nominations Due April 1, 2019

Nominations are due April 1st for MASCC’s Distinguished Service Award (DSA), which recognizes meritorious achievement, exemplary leadership, and outstanding contributions to MASCC and its mission.

 
MASCC to Recognize Centers of Excellence in Supportive Care in Cancer

MASCC has initiated a certification program to recognize Centers of Excellence in Supportive Care in Cancer — oncology centers around the world that demonstrate best practices in successfully integrating oncology and supportive care services.

 
New Study Group Awards

MASCC recognizes outstanding Study Group achievements and leadership with new Study Group and Study Group Leader Awards.

 
Cachexia Clinic Webinar: Tuesday, February 26

MASCC Society News January 2019

In the January 2019 issue, we bring you news of a new MASCC initiative to promote affiliated supportive care associations in the Asia-Pacific region, a summary of a recent Post-MASCC meeting in Belgium, and news of the Lancet Oncology Commission’s work toward the integration of oncology and palliative care. In Study Group news, we bring you a profile of the recently renamed Oncodermatology Study Group (formerly Skin Toxicities), a name change that reflects a broadening of the Group’s areas of interest and research.MASCC President Raj Lalla, DDS, PhD, discusses the MASCC initiative related to national-level supportive care associations. As usual, we include upcoming conference reminders. Post-MASCC Meeting in Diegem, Belgium

A one-day Post-MASCC Meeting was held by the Supportive Care Task Force in Diegem, Belgium on Friday, November 23, 2018.
